<p>Berend Vreugdenhil holds an M.Sc. degree in Chemical Engineering from the Technical University Delft. In 2006 he started his career at ECN, where research was focused on developing indirect gasification technology to produce sustainable natural gas from biomass.</p>



<p>He mostly worked with gasification and gas cleaning based on ECN technology MILENA and OLGA. Co-production of chemicals such as BTX and ethylene is a relative new topic that he worked on as well. At a later stage he became leader of the gasification group within ECN.</p>



<p>In 2018 ECN merged with TNO. Since the merger with TNO the work has expanded into the direction of thermo chemical recycling of plastic waste streams. There is overlap with gasification for the bio-based economy, therefore the knowledge in this field can be applied directly to the field of plastics recycling.</p>



<p>Since 2016, Berend leads the IEA Bioenergy Task 33 on gasification of biomass and waste.</p>

Her focus over the last six years has been on drop-in biofuels with an emphasis on biofuels for aviation. She has acted as project manager for multiple projects on biojet fuel development and commercialization, evaluating technologies, feedstock, supply chains and policy instruments.</p>

<p>Prior to joining WMB, Rasmus led the sustainability transformation of the chemical company Kemira, acting as Director for Corporate Sustainability. He has directed several business collaboration initiatives at the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) where he led the Climate &amp; Energy program. <p>Daniela Thrän studied environmental engineering at the University of Berlin and completed her doctorate at Bauhaus University Weimar. As a scientist, she researches how biomass can be produced and used as sustainably as possible. Since 2008 she has been the head of the &#8220;Bioenergy Systems&#8221; department at the DBFZ in Leipzig. Since 2011, she has headed the Bioenergy Department at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) in Leipzig and has since held the professorship for Bioenergy Systems at the University of Leipzig. She contributes her expertise on the sustainable use and production of biomass to numerous committees and is co-chair of the German Bioeconomy Council. Professor Thrän leads research projects in the field of bioenergy, bioeconomy and the spatial impact of renewable energies and has developed the &#8220;Smart Bioenergy&#8221; approach, which focuses on technologies and concepts for more flexible bioenergy provision in future energy systems.</p>

<p>Geoff is Vice President, Operations and Sustainability at FSM and is responsible for providing oversight of the delivery of safe, reliable and sustainable fuel and de-icing operations on behalf of the airline consortia and establishing the strategic vision for sustainability and environmental management of the consortia’s strategic infrastructure and operations.  Prior to joining FSM in late 2020, Geoff held a senior leadership role at a major Canadian airline where he was responsible for aviation fuel procurement, consortium management, environment and climate change risk management and sustainability. Today, Geoff leads a team of professionals that provides environmental and sustainability guidance to fuel and de-icing consortium operations and projects. He is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geologists of Alberta and holds a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering from the University of Ottawa and a Master’s in Civil Engineering from McGill University, both specialized in environmental engineering.</p>

<p>After a career in engineering design and consulting, Paul joined the Chemical Engineering Department at Polytechnique Montréal in 2000 to become Chairholder of the first NSERC Chair in Design Engineering. In his research program, Paul  addresses industry-driven problems using product and process design methodologies and systems analysis tools, targeting the forest products industry and its transformation to new business models such as the biorefinery. In 2010, Paul co-founded and is today Principal Consultant of EnVertis Inc, a global consultancy seeking to assist forest product companies with business transformation. Paul is a founding Fellow of the Pulp and Paper Technical Association of Canada (PAPTAC), a past President of the Canadian Society for Chemical Engineering (CSChE), and a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering (CAE). Prior to joining Polytechnique Montréal, Professor Stuart worked in engineering design consulting for 12 years. His research activities focus on defining strategies to enhance the competitive position of forestry companies, while examining options for revenue diversification via implementation of biorefinery concepts.</p>
